Almost to tier 1
So far we have almost raised $500! My goal is to reach a minimum of $500 raised but would love to hit the $1000 mark!I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat T1D!
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 7 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat T1D! I’ll be asking for your support to help raise funds for research to cure, prevent and better treat type 1 diabetes.
How it will work:
The person who donates the most will be able to:
- choose my hair colour if between $500-$1499 in total is raised
- choose my hairstyle (excluding extreme styles such as shaving and mullet) if $1500-$4999 In total is raised
- have the option to shave my head to match my 4 month old or pick any colour or style if over $3000 is raised. Ultimately you have the power!
Remember, you could decide the fate of my hair by donating as little as $10 if you are the person with the highest donation amount at the end of the fundraising date - 13th March 2021
My reason:
Some of you may know that my brother has Type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed in 2007 at the age of 11 years. It was very difficult and scary learning how to give himself 6 needles of insulin a day for the rest of his life, change his diet and not eat sugar. Even having too much fruit could have been disastrous! As you can imagine, it also was difficult for a young child or even adult to not eat sweets at a birthday party!
Thanks to research and funding, pumps have since been developed and made available. These pumps have allowed my brother to only give himself one needle, which stays in, every 2-3 days so his body can receive the amount of insulin it requires to function and remain safe and healthy.
Even in Nov 2020, my brother had an illness which was further complicated by his T1D and almost died. T1D is a lifelong illness that influences the decisions in every aspect of ones life.
So despite being absolutely terrified of loosing my hair or having a horrendous hair style, I’m sacrificing my hair to help raise funds for a cure, research and improved treatment options, as I know it is nothing like the terror of being told you have to give yourself needles for the rest of your life.
DONATE NOW to help the #JDRFBlueArmy and change the lives of Australians living with T1D. Thank you.
