Misdiagnosed at the Age of 19.
I am a 37 year old living with Type 1 diabetes. I also have ADHD, depression, kidney disease and other medical problems. Now I have rode my push bike everyday to and from school since year 1, back in 1991. In 1998 my knees started to collect fluid and my family doctor gave me knee exercises to help?!. Then in 2004 I got told that I was a Type 2, because it runs in the family. The tablets did not work at all. With my first pregnancy I was put onto insulin for the whole pregnancy. The INSULIN actually started to do what the TABLETS didn't so. After my three completed pregnancy's I told the doctor that I want to be retested because I knew that I was a TYPE 1. The test came back as I had guessed, I am the FIRST Type 1 diabetic in my whole family.I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat T1D!
I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat T1D! Once I reach my fundraising target to help support vital T1D research, I’ll be dyeing my hair blue.
Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
Please support my challenge and DONATE NOW to help the #JDRFBlueArmy change the lives of Australians living with T1D. Thank you for your support.
