JDRF Blue Hair Challenge FY23

I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat Type 1 Diabetes!

I’m fundraising for JDRF to defeat Type 1 Diabetes! Once I reach my fundraising target to help support vital T1D research, I’ll be dyeing my hair blue.

Yes, blue. JDRF does amazing research and helps many living with T1D. We are so very thankful for all they do. We hope, with further research, Susan can live a healthier and more comfortable life. Any contribution is appreciated.

People like Susan get no break. Susan will skip meals to avoid the stress of calculating carbohydrates, insulin then administering insulin, followed by a 15 minute to 45 minute wait prior to eating. If she’s low she may not have to wait or may have to eat some first before doing insulin and that is a complicated decision to make. Her hypoglycaemia forces her to miss out on many fun events as the excitement and exercise causes her blood sugars to drop. She also is woken from sleep to treat hypoglycaemia and it can be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour before she can return to sleep. Her friends’ parents worry about having her over due to the high risk medical condition. Some classmates even refuse to eat food she brings in out of fear of “catching” it. Friends run away or cringe when she does her insulin due to needle phobias which leaves her feeling alienated. She was even kicked out of a Scouts group because they said they were unable to offer her the accommodations she required to prevent a life threatening situation from occurring.

All this is so fatiguing for her but she never gets a break. She doesn’t have the option to take a day off. Hopefully the money I raise will go towards creating a better life for her and my blue hair will be a reminder to her that I will always be here to back her.

If you would like to, feel free to join the cause and dye your hair blue too.

Please support my challenge and DONATE NOW to help the #JDRFBlueArmy change the lives of Australians living with T1D. Thank you for your support.
