Type 1 diabetes

My name is Erin aldous , at the age of 12 I was diagnosed with type one diabetes, after ending up severely sick and spending a week in the royal children’s hospital coming home to what was my new reality! 4 injections a day multiple finger pricks I was lucky enough to have such supportive family around me to support this new normal. Mum would wake up at 2am every morning to check my levels ensuring that I wasn’t hypoing during my sleep, it was a challange one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with as a young girl who just wanted to live a normal life but this was the new normal, after numerous ambulance trips, countless nights in hospital and over 17,230 needles in the past 12 years. I always wondered what it would be like to just be able to go out eat what I want do what everyone else does and not constantly be wondering if my bsl are going to be going high or low, it’s been a journey a really big one, one I hope we can find a cure for. I would never wish it upon anyone or hope to see any other young child go through it, it was life changing for me, my family and my friends.  I most certainly could not have done it without my amazing parents or sisters I really owe it to them all. So please if you can help us find a cure for this and change the world and let every young child or adult live the life they always wanted. Thankyou for your time

I'm jumping for a great cause!

I'm jumping out of a plane to support JDRF in their mission to find a cure for t1d.
