I’m fundraising to show what people with type 1 diabetes can do.
Back in 2013, I raised $20,000 by running six marathons in six days in the heat of Australia's Simpson desert.
In 2014, I set a new, bigger, goal to run ten ultra marathons in ten years.
I've completed nine of them. On 18 May I'll run the tenth.
The UTA Blue Mountains race is an ultra-challenging 100km long. A bit like living with type 1 it has highs and lows. After 99km the run finishes with a brutal last kilometre climb up the famous Furber steps (951 of them). I'll count every step and jelly bean to the finish line.
Every child diagnosed with type 1 can pursue their dreams if they get three things:
1. inspiration and a 'can do' attitude to exercise;
2. belief and support from great people like you; and
3. ongoing research into more advanced drugs, education and therapies
Every $1 donated to JDRF makes a difference.
