🎉 20 Years of Type 1 Diabetes 🎉
This year marks a significant milestone in my life: 20 years of living with Type 1 diabetes.
As a tribute to my journey and to honor my body for getting me up countless mountains, over the months of September and October, I will be climbing a total of 2000 meters.
To give you some perspective on the cost of managing diabetes, the average Australian spends around $4,777 annually. Over the course of my life, that adds up to approximately $95,540. I’ve administered over 50,000 insulin injections and attended countless doctor appointments.
While I am fortunate to live in a country that provides substantial subsidies for medical needs, this is not the case everywhere. Many people around the world struggle with the high costs of diabetes management impacting their health and lifespans significantly
In light of this, I am aiming to raise $1 per meter climbed—totaling $2000. This fundraising will be donated directly to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
If we exceed this goal, I will continue climbing in December, extending the climb to the total funds raised.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
Thank you for your support!
