What a cure means for me

When I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, I was sickened by the overwhelming challenge of rerouting the path that lead to the unknown future I was hoping to one day reach. Every day since then I’ve shown myself that no matter what, no challenge or obstacle can stop you from achieving whatever it is you want, that is if you want it bad enough.

For 6 years I have proven to myself the illusion that limits are; reasons and ideas that we can settle for, to be contented with not reaching whatever you deem a personal achievement.

Although type 1 diabetes has brought me resilience and a substantial work ethic, it has also shown me just how hard you have to work to reach the same goal as someone who doesn’t have the same factors weighing on them; although everything is still achievable with this condition, each step is harder, and each period of growth brings a new wave of angst as the chaos of life grows along with you.

This is not to say type 1 diabetes is the only auto immune condition that limits the productivity and overall wellbeing of people across the world, but it IS a life changing disease that tests the patience, sanity, physical and mental strength, and true will of its survivors.

It would mean the world to me and my team to have your support, and we would love to see you join our jump team, support our goal, and come and watch our jump this February! 🪂

I'm jumping for a great cause!

I'm jumping out of a plane to support JDRF in their mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy. JDRF is the largest funder of T1D research in the world with a vision to create a world without T1D.

DONATE NOW to help change the lives of more than 130,000 Australians living with T1D. Thank you!
